KAP in Collaboration With Your Therapist

Partnering with therapists to support physician-guided ketamine treatment within established therapeutic relationships

Healing often develops within the trust and continuity of an established therapeutic relationship. When appropriate, Centerpoint can collaborate with a patient’s existing therapist so that ketamine-assisted psychotherapy may take place within that ongoing therapeutic work.

Following a comprehensive medical and psychiatric evaluation, eligible patients may be prescribed sublingual ketamine to self-administer during a planned psychotherapy session in their therapist’s office. Centerpoint provides medical screening, determines whether ketamine is appropriate, develops an individualized treatment and safety plan, provides medication-related guidance, and remains involved through ongoing medical follow-up and integration support.

The patient’s therapist provides preparation, therapeutic support during the experience, and integration afterward, according to their professional training and scope of practice. Before treatment begins, Centerpoint, the therapist, and the patient establish a shared plan for communication, safety, monitoring, and follow-up.

This collaborative option is considered individually and may not be appropriate for every patient, therapist, or clinical setting. It is also dependent on the therapist’s training and experience with KAP.

For patients who may benefit from a more structured course of treatment, therapists may also refer them to Centerpoint for physician-supervised IM ketamine. When appropriate and with the patient’s consent, we coordinate around treatment progress, emerging themes, and areas that may benefit from continued therapeutic work before the patient returns to ongoing care with their established therapist.
